These colorful birds stay together in large flocks during the winter months. They will swarm trees and shrubbery to eat the berries and seeds as it is their only source of nutrition during the winter.

They are called waxwings because of the red tips on the end of some wing feathers. If you look closely the red tips looks like red wax.
